Clinical Supervision

Tim Baima is an Approved Supervisor through The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. AAMFT provides some of the most extensive training in clinical supervision available, involving 30 hours of coursework and a minimum of 18 months of mentorship. You can read more about AAMFT-approved supervision training here.

My clinical supervision focuses on a systemic orientation to therapy. I am a good fit for trainees and associates who want to learn to work effectively with families and/or couples. My clinical approach is greatly influenced by the work of Dr. Eliana Gil. I am able to support supervisees in using a variety of clinical interventions including play, art, and expressive therapies.

My clinical approach and supervision style are also highly influenced by the work of Dr. Kenneth V. Hardy. I believe that the person of the therapist is central to effectiveness in therapy, and that dynamics of power and oppression play central roles in all relationships. Therefore, in my approach to clinical supervision, developing the “self” of the therapist goes hand in hand with developing case formulation, treatment planning, and effective clinical intervention.

I am able to provide individual or group supervision for trainees and associates with a Memorandum of Understanding established with your placement agency. For trainees and associates in California, please find more information on the CA BBS FAQ for MFT trainees and associates questions 35 and 36, and/or the CA BBS FAQ for PCC trainees and associates questions 28 and 29 below.

Please contact me for rates and other additional information. For single sessions of supervision, please see Training & Consultation.

Dr. Baima is also available to provide supervision of supervision in the Approved Supervision Programs sponsored by CAMFT and AAMFT.
